Run The Jewels release new track to help people through the pain

Accompanied by a note explaining that it’s for “everyone who is hurting or scared right now,” rap duo Run The Jewels has released a new song onto the internet today. “2100” features work from Run The Jewels 2 contributor Boots, and opens with Killer Mike asking an open wound of a question: “How long ’til the hate that we hold leads us to another Holocaust?” As you can probably imagine, things don’t get much more optimistic from there.

According to the note released with the song, KM and El-P weren’t planning on dropping the song so early; given that its SoundCloud entry is tagged #RTJ3, it was presumably being held back for the long-teased Run The Jewels 3. But, well… “It feels right, now. It’s about fear and it’s about love and it’s about wanting more for all of us.”

Run The Jewels is currently gearing up for a 33-stop North American tour.
