RuPaul ruveals season seven’s winner

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Monday, June 1. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

RuPaul’s Drag Race (Logo, 9 p.m.): Season seven of Drag Race concludes with a “rupersized” finale, in which contestants will talk about all the season’s drama. Then, both the next “America’s Next Drag Superstar” and “Miss Congeniality” will be crowned. Will it be fan favorite Pearl Liaison? Bold redhead Ginger Minj? Or the sleek and stylish Violet Chachki? Tune in to find out and then check back here at TV Club for Oliver Sava’s last review of the season.

Also noted

So You Think You Can Dance (Fox, 8 p.m.): SYTYCD is back for a 12th season, and things are kicking off with an interview with First Lady Michelle Obama, which can only mean one thing: a Let’s Move promotion! And, hopefully, some mom dancing. The first round of auditions go down in Memphis and Dallas. The judging panel this season consists of Paula Abdul, Nigel Lythgoe, and *Jason Derulo voice* Jason Derulo.

The Lion’s Mouth Opens (HBO, 9 p.m.): Another Monday night, another HBO documentary. The Lion’s Mouth Opens tells the intimate story of filmmaker Marianna Palka on the eve of her doctor’s appointment that will reveal whether she inherited Huntington’s disease from her father.

The Whispers (ABC, 10 p.m.): Based on a Ray Bradbury story of the same name, The Whispers looks at a case involving an alien force that invades Earth and uses children to achieve world domination. An army of children sounds terrifying and also familiar. Zack Handlen reviews the first three episodes.

Regular coverage

WWE Monday Night Raw (USA, 8 p.m.)

Elsewhere in TV Club

We’ve got 16 more shows that were inspired initially by films. And in honor of So You Think You Can Dance’s return, Ryan Vlastelica has an Expert Witness with brothers Evan and Ryan Kasprzak, who competed in the fifth season.

What else is on?

American Genius (National Geographic, 9 p.m.): Beginning with the personal battle between computer innovators Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, this miniseries looks at, well, american geniuses.

Devious Maids (Lifetime, 9 p.m.): Maids are being devious for a third season! And daughters are being mysterious!

UnReal (Lifetime, 10 p.m.): This new Lifetime series is a fictional, dramatized behind-the-scenes look at the fictional, dramatized world of reality dating competitions.

The Island (NBC, 10 p.m.): The men on this island of men can’t find any water because it’s just an island full of men!

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (NBC, 11:35 p.m.): Melissa McCarthy is dropping by The Tonight Show, which is a much better way to enjoy Melissa McCarthy on Monday nights than watching Mike & Molly. Also, that redheaded singer who seems to be everywhere appears as the musical guest. You know who I’m talking about.

Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (AMC, 7:30 p.m.): Why would you ever watch a Mad Max movie that doesn’t have Imperator Furiosa? Well, we’ll tell you…actually, no, you have a very good point.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (FX, 10:30 p.m.): Edward literally eats a baby out of Bella.

Women’s College World Series: Finals Game 1 (ESPN2, 8 p.m.): It’s Game 1 of the best-of-three finals in Oklahoma City!
