RuPaul’s Drag Race crowns America’s 10th next drag superstar
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Thursday, June 28. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1, 8 p.m.): Who will survive the 10th season-finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and what will be left of them? Will it be the young upstart, Aquaria? Comeback queen Eureka? Silent but deadly lip-sync assassin Kameron Michaels? Or—if we may show our biases for a second—will it be the queen who most clearly deserves the win, Asia O’Hara, who’s shown consistent charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent (and let’s not forget about that Tweety Bird runway look) since week one, and who took that nerve to new heights in last week’s tense reunion episode, when she was the only contestant to stand up for The Vixen? Mama Ru still has to make up her mind, but Oliver Sava already knows who this season’s winner is: the entire world, for being blessed with “Miss Vanjie. Miss Vanjie. Miss… Vaaanjie” memes until the end of our days.
Wild card
Desus & Mero (Viceland, 11 p.m.): After nearly two years and a few hundred episodes on Vice’s cable offshoot, Desus Nice and The Kid Mero temporarily close up shop, in preparation for taking their nightly riffs on current events to a weekly format on Showtime.
