Russo brothers developing TV project in case the Avengers thing doesn’t work out

Captain America: Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo have pretty full schedules for the foreseeable future, what with them directing the two-part Avengers: Infinity War saga for Marvel as well. But Deadline is reporting that they’ve just picked up the rights to a TV project they can develop in whatever passes for their free time. Titled The Mastermind, the show will be an adaptation of a series of true-crime articles by Evan Ratliff that will be published by Ratliff’s Atavist Magazine. The articles will be a collection of “serialized stories” that are “said to be similar to…Making A Murderer” (because of course they are), and they’ll follow “the story of an elusive criminal kingpin” named Paul Le Roux who is described as “a brilliant programmer and a vicious cartel boss who became a prized government asset.”

Deadline doesn’t say how deeply the Russos will be involved in actually making the Mastermind show, but considering that their directing experience mostly comes from low-rated-yet-widely-beloved comedies and superhero movies, they may just stick to producing it.
