Ryan Adams is working on a new album
It’s been three years since Ryan Adams released his most recent studio album, Cardinology, and put his band The Cardinals on hiatus, though the perpetually busy singer-songwriter-author hasn’t been exactly silent in that time. He released a metal record called Orion, a shelved album recorded with the Cardinals called III/IV, and two books, Infinity Blues and Hello Sunshine. But now Adams is officially back to work on new music. Q magazine reports that the album, which is called Ashes & Fire, is composed of “12 elegant country-rock songs” and features backing from Norah Jones and Benmont Tench of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers. Overseeing the record is Glyn Johns, the legendary producer of bands like the Who, Rolling Stones, and The Clash and the father of past Adams collaborator Ethan Johns.
