Ryan Adams writes "soft mellow acoustic jams" in tribute to Ronnie James Dio

Until now, the only songs written to mark the passing of the late, great Ronnie James Dio have been in parody form by a hateful church that only grows more and more powerful every time it’s mentioned on The A.V. Club. But the first genuine tribute has come from a rather unexpected source: Ryan Adams, a songwriter who doesn’t know the meaning of “keep it to yourself,” who recently posted on his Facebook page that he had completed “11 soft mellow acoustic jams” the day after Dio’s funeral, inspired by “lots of New Orleans scenery and vibe from the trip.” There’s no word yet on whether Adams plans to release the songs—and after all, he just put out his first-ever “fully realized sci-fi metal concept album,” so he’s already got that going for him—but Adams did say that he is “official[ly] very excited again,” so read into that whatever you will.
