Ryan Gosling believes Blue Valentine makes a fine companion piece to The Notebook, clearly has not seen Blue Valentine

Staple of slumber parties and salve to broken hearts everywhere, the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ The Notebook remains one of the most popular modern romances for its belief in an undying love that can span generations, world wars, and the onset of dementia. So how would that film’s star, Ryan Gosling, describe Blue Valentine, a film that believes love can barely survive a decade or so of shitty day jobs, the demands of raising a kid, and the onset of male-pattern baldness? “I think that Blue Valentine is a nice companion piece to The Notebook, because I feel like both are true," Gosling tells MTV News, adding, “I feel like Blue Valentine kind of picks up where The Notebook leaves off." Right, sort of like how Schindler’s List picks up where The Ten Commandments leaves off.
