Ryan Gosling to produce, maybe star in a movie about Busby Berkeley

Consummate Canadian showman Ryan Gosling may soon be donning a white top hat and tails for his next role. The Drive star and world’s most handsome dude has signed on to produce a movie about ‘30s director Busby Berkeley, who’s best known for his over the top cinematic production numbers in films like 42nd Street and Gold Diggers. Gosling may also star in the film, which is based on the book Buzz: The Life And Art Of Busby Berkeley by Jeffrey Spivak.

Gosling has been developing the project with Marc Platt, who also worked on Drive, and there’s even chatter that Gosling could direct the film—albeit with some help from a number of very talented choreographers, one would hope. Gosling just wrapped up work on his directorial debut, How To Catch A Monster, which he also wrote. Platt produced Wicked on Broadway, and is working on the upcoming film adaptation of Into The Woods.
