True Blood star Ryan Kwanten, best known for his portrayal of a dim-witted redneck who hangs around with dangerous monsters, will trade up to playing a dim-witted redneck who is himself a dangerous monster when he takes on the juice role of rebellious teen icon Charles Manson. Jeff Sneider at The Wrap reports that Kwanten will portray the infamous Beach Boys collaborator in an upcoming film called The Family; while details are sketchy, the film will apparently make the daring decision to "focus on Manson and the murders he committed with his followers". Bold choice, considering how many Manson stories focus on his infancy, or his many television appearances with Geraldo Rivera.
Kwanten, 33, will also be starring in a film called The Twenty-Something Survival Guide.
