Ryan Murphy, who probably has carte blanche at FX these days, has lined up yet another project at the cable network. But instead of sticking with the anthology format, Murphy’s reverting to his Nip/Tuck ways and going with what Deadline describes as an “ongoing drama.” The new show already has a title, Pose, and is expected to premiere in 2018, which production slated to begin in October. Pose will explore the various echelons of New York society in the ’80s, juxtaposing the “emergence of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.”
Casting is already underway, with a focus on new and unknown talent. No characters have been announced, but we imagine we’ll get analogues of people like Trump, Nelson Sullivan, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Penny Arcade, Art Spiegelman, or the entire House Of Latex. Murphy is writing the series, and will direct the premiere, as he is wont to do.
