Ryan Reynolds might team up with Deadpool writers on a (movie) mission to Mars

After a handful of fruitless attempts at starring in a superhero franchise, Ryan Reynolds finally scored with Deadpool, a film that strips him of all his distracting good looks. With a sequel already in the works, it seems like studios now want to ride the film’s surprising commercial success by nabbing Reynolds for even bigger, more otherworldly projects. Deadline reports he’s in talks to lead alongside Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation) in Life, a Skydance Productions film that follows a Mars mission as it discovers intelligent alien life. The script comes from Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, and Daniel Espinosa is slated to direct.

So buck up, young aspiring actors: Reynolds’ story is proof that with enough focus, drive, and still-untapped comic book characters, you too can find yourself in front of a green screen that stands in for Mars one day.
