Having directed a kung fu movie, then auctioned off a one-of-a-kind album that virtually no one will get to hear, Wu-Tang mastermind RZA is taking the next logical step in his career by starring in a biopic of a porn star. The producer and sometime actor has signed on for a film about Vanessa Del Rio, whose porn career stretched from the mid-1970s until the end of the ’90s—unheard-of longevity in the youth-obsessed smut industry.
The film will be set in the ’70s and ’80s, in a mob-run Times Square devoted to sex and sleaze (in what New Yorkers refer to as “the good old days”). Colombian actress Zulay Henao (Tyler Perry’s The Single Moms Club) will star as Del Rio, with Drea de Matteo and Taryn Manning also costarring alongside RZA. Music video director Thomas Mignone, whose previous credits include System Of A Down Souls Benefit Concert and David Hasselhoff Live & Forever will direct the as-yet-untitled film.
