Sacha Baron Cohen developing a spy spoof, plans to make fun of British people again
After nearly exhausting his acting repertoire of idiotic and off-putting foreigners, Sacha Baron Cohen may move on to a slightly more refined character type with his next film for Paramount, or at least one that won’t require much of an accent. Cohen has just sold an untitled spy spoof that follows a “James Bond-like” agent who’s forced to team up with his dimwitted, soccer hooligan brother—suggesting that, as in The Dictator, he may again play dual roles. Unlike The Dictator, however, he seems less likely to be accused of more stereotyping, except from those who are tired of the film industry’s relentless spoofing of spies. They’re probably still smarting from that Johnny English sequel and in no mood for further abuse.
