Salma Hayek will play a talking taco for Seth Rogen
Despite its name and the fact that it stars most of his usual acting crew, Seth Rogen’s Sausage Party will not lack for diversity among the aisles of its supermarket, now that Salma Hayek has been hired to play a talking taco. Much as Rogen will at last put the full-bodied sausageance of his voice to good use in the R-rated cartoon by playing a talking sausage, Hayek will bring her Mexican heritage to bear on the role of Teresa the Taco, a taco who speaks with the fiery passion and verve of Salma Hayek, like all tacos would if they could. As previously reported, the film will also feature Jonah Hill, James Franco, Michael Cera, Edward Norton, Kristen Wiig, and David Krumholtz, with each presumably playing a foodstuff infused with its actor’s cultural identity—because as we all know, “diversity” means more than just a token talking taco.
