Salma Hayek will produce a “soapy drama” for ABC
Deadline reports that Salma Hayek is teaming team up with ABC again, this time on a “soapy ensemble drama.” Hayek, who previously executive produced Ugly Betty for the alphabet network, will share producing duties with American Crime’s Michael J. McDonald. No one is attached to star or direct yet, but Deadline says ABC has already put the show in development.
The untitled project was written by Diego Gutierrez (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) and was reportedly influenced by his own multicultural upbringing. The drama will center on the three heirs of a Mexican conglomerate who are anxious to succeed their father to the throne. When the magnate is murdered, all three become suspects in his death. The action will jump between Mexico City and Los Angeles, which is probably where Gutierrez’s real-life experiences will come in and not, say, the whole patricide thing.
