Sam Elliott is The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot in this surprisingly heavy trailer

With a title like The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot, you might be expecting this movie to be a cartoonish romp through a silly, sci-fi-tinged universe where one man—in this case Sam Elliott—happens to be some kind of superhero who manages to murder a bunch of deserving monsters. What you probably aren’t expecting is a serious exploration of the toll that one very important killing can take on an old soldier, and what happens when that old soldier is asked to save the world by killing once again. What does it mean to be the man who killed Hitler and then the Bigfoot? Well, it doesn’t mean having a whole lot of trashy fun, if this trailer is anything to go by.

The A.V. Club’s own Katie Rife said The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot is a “mostly successful” hybrid of a “pulpy adventure tale” and a “meditative reflection on loneliness and aging” when she saw it at Fantasia Film Festival last year, and it’ll be available in theaters and on-demand on February 8.
