Sam Raimi puts his root down on Day Of The Triffids remake

Like a sentient, aggressive plant spreading its seed all over the world, Sam Raimi has wrapped his tendrils around yet another project, this time an update of John Wyndham's sci-fi classic The Day Of The Triffids (a story that's been adapted quite a few times already). Deadline reports that Raimi, a fan of the 1962 film as a boy, wants to direct it, which suggests we won’t see it until sometime around 2030, when the story’s vision of a blind human populace at the mercy of killer bushes from outer space may have become a reality.  In the meantime, at least we still have The Happening, right?
