Sam Shepard to play Kyle Chandler’s father in a Netflix series
Everyone who has seen Friday Night Lights probably wishes Kyle Chandler were their dad. He’s always there to coach you through occasionally successful football seasons or to expertly deploy an uplifting speech of some kind, but who could possibly be live up to being his father? (Other than his actual father, of course.) Vulture is reporting that Netflix has gone with August: Osage County’s Sam Shepard for Chandler’s father in an upcoming original drama series that doesn’t have a title yet. The series, which comes from the creators of Damages and also features Linda Cardellini and Sissy Spacek, tells the story of all the fun times that are had when a family’s black sheep (played by Ben Mendelsohn, who you might remember from that time he got his neck snapped in the last Batman movie) returns from a long absence and starts revealing everyone’s drama-inciting secrets. This being a Netflix original, you might be tempted to binge-watch the whole series as soon as possible, but don’t forget to pay attention to your own family and incite some real-life drama every once in a while.
