Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds are coming back for a Hitman's Bodyguard 2

The Hitman’s Bodyguard was the rare film that seemed both instantly forgettable and destined for a sequel, since one mediocre movie isn’t really enough to contain the star power and theoretical box-office draw of both Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds. The film’s forgettability can be debated, but now it has at least achieved its destiny to get a sequel: According to Variety, Reynolds, Jackson, and Salma Hayek have all signed on to reprise their roles from the first movie, which centered on Reynolds as the bodyguard of Jackson’s infamous hitman (making him the hitman’s bodyguard). Director Patrick Hughes is also returning, and Variety’s story says that the new film will be about Jackson’s hitman character hiring Reynolds’ bodyguard character to help him and Hayek “on a mission along the Amalfi coast.”

That’s both very specific and oddly vague, ensuring that the Hitman’s Bodyguard series will continue to be a franchise of contradictions.
