Our complete rundown of news from San Diego Comic-Con 2024
The A.V. Club will be on the ground for Comic-Con from July 25 to 28
Photo by Daniel Knighton/Getty ImagesWe’ve spent the last three days at San Diego Comic Con and, boy, did a lot happen. The 2024 edition of the convention was a notable return to form after the last few iterations fell during pandemic restrictions and a dual writers/actors strike, with cosplaying fans filling rooms to hear the latest before anyone else.
Of course, the biggest reveal of the weekend was that newly-minted Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. would be returning to the MCU in the next Avengers movie, Doomsday, playing not Tony Stark, but Victor von Doom. This was paired with the confirmation that Joe and Anthony Russo, directors of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: End Game would be officially returning to direct Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
But there was plenty of exciting stuff going on across properties. There’s going to be another The Boys prequel, Doctor Who is getting a spinoff, and The Walking Dead is heading to Spain. You can check out the full overview of our coverage, linked down below.
