Santigold announces new album, shares first single “Can’t Get Enough Of Myself”

Earlier today, singer/producer Santigold went on Zane Lowe’s show on Apple’s Beats 1 Radio and announced the existence of her long-anticipated third record titled 99¢. It’s her first full album since Master of My Make-Believe in 2012, and, in a short interview with Lowe, Santigold was eager to share her enthusiasm for the new material, saying it’s “exciting for people to finally hear something that’s been brewing for so long.”

The singer went on to explain the concept behind the record’s name and cover art: “The record cover is a picture of me in a bag shrink-wrapped with a bunch of items,” she said, adding that “everything is a product at this point, including people and relationships, and everything is about marketing product. So, I’m a product. And also everything’s undervalued, so 99¢ is a good price for me and my life and all my hard work.” (She did, however, go on to say that the title might not necessarily reflect the record’s actual asking price.)

Along with the announcement, the singer also debuted the up-tempo first single from the album, titled “Can’t Get Enough Of Myself.” The track was produced by Santigold alongside Patrik Berger, who is best known for his work with Robyn, Lana Del Rey, and Icona Pop. No release date for 99¢ has yet been announced, but it is expected to debut sometime early next year.
