Last year’s resurgence of all-female music festival Lilith Fair was something of a disaster, with slow ticket sales resulting in many cancellations and iffy lineups angering many fans, but founder Sarah McLachlan nevertheless optimistically promised that it would be back. However, she now seems to have changed her mind, telling the Globe And Mail, “It’s done. And that’s okay. It’s actually a really good thing,” presumably while making soothing sounds to an abused Lhasa Apso. McLachlan then gently continued that the original was “a beautiful organic event that happened at a point in time when it was really needed,” but that in hindsight it was a mistake to try bringing back the same idea at a time when “women have changed a lot” in terms of their “expectations” and “the way they view the world.” Like, back then, women would have been all good with never knowing who was going to play their city or if their show was going to get canceled at the last-minute, and they would have been fine with promoters massively discounting tickets and refusing to reimburse people who dutifully bought them early.
