Sasha Velour swings by The Bold Type
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Tuesday, April 16. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
The Bold Type (Freeform, 8 p.m.): Jane may be kind of terrible, but The Bold Type is not. Freeform’s unassuming standout began its third season last week with an engaging premiere, and returns this week with a queen.
Okay, she’s not in that promo, which centers on the episode’s primary storyline—Jane’s egg-freezing process, and her desire to also freeze new boyfriend Pinstripe out of the whole affair—but trust us, Sasha Velour is gracing The Bold Type with her presence. The winner of the ninth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, who in two minutes gave one of 2017's best performances (and we’re not kidding), enters the story as part of this week’s Kat-centric subplot, which sees her trying to save one of the city’s last lesbian bars by throwing a hell of a party. Allison Shoemaker has tucked plenty of rose petals under her wig and will shake them out only after she’s finished her recap.
Regular coverage
The Flash (The CW, 8 p.m.)
Fosse/Verdon (FX, 10 p.m.)
Wild card
Bless This Mess (ABC, 9:30 p.m.): Liz Meriwether, creator of New Girl, teamed up with Lake Bell to create this new ABC sitcom, which centers on a pair of New York newlyweds who leave the city (and their careers) behind to lead a “simpler” life on a farm in Nebraska. Those quotation marks are necessary, because neither Rio (Bell) nor Mike (Dax Shepard) knows the first thing about running a farm.
Ed Begley Jr. and Pam Grier also star, and are exactly as charming together as one might hope.
