Sault Ste. Marie Rock City

KISS is set to play in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan tonight–but before they do, city commissioner Ray Bauer will hand Gene Simmons and crew the keys to the city and officially declare today "KISS Day." In an interview with The Sault Star, the 42-year-old politican says, "I'm old enough that I've got a lot of KISS on vinyl," then praises the band for its lyrical subtlety and discretion–pointing out that the gloriously gory, sleazy group "could write lyrics and sing about adult topics without actually coming out and using the F-word. It seemed blatant at the time, but it was not 100 percent completely blatant."
