Say goodbye to I Feel Bad

Say goodbye to I Feel Bad

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Thursday, December 27. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

I Feel Bad (NBC, 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., season finale): You’ll notice that says season finale and not series finale, but this is almost certainly the end of the road for Aseem Batra’s family sitcom. And while it never rocketed to the top of our to-watch list, we feel bad about the probable demise of I Feel Bad. Here’s our own Kate Kulzick on the series’ promise:

Many sitcoms find their feet over the course of their first season. I Feel Bad starts with a strong grasp on its tone, characters, and voice, putting it miles ahead of many other comedies. Its first episodes may not have audiences laughing out loud, but the seeds of an excellent comedy are present, and given its strong creative team and cast, and most importantly, its clear point of view, this is a series worth tuning in for.

Now it looks like those seeds won’t grow into much, and that’s… bad. You can watch the final two episodes back-to-back this evening.

Regular coverage

Wild card

The Wine Show (Ovation, 10 p.m.): Who doesn’t want to watch charming British dudes get toasted on wine while trying to stay—or at least seem—sober enough to successfully make a television show about drinking wine? Does such a person exist? The Wine Show is a consistent, easy-drinking, buttery delight, with notes of fig, earth, Matthew Goode, wood smoke, white pepper, James Purefoy, and banana. Best accompanied by wine.
