Say It Isnt So
Crimes
- Casting the expressionless Chris Klein as a sweet-natured orphan who comes to think his girlfriend Heather Graham is his long-lost sister
- Containing all the casual animal abuse and random grossness of a typical Farrelly brothers production
- Maintaining such a leaden pace that the film can't even get any zing out of lines like "Sweet Jesus, you ponied your sister!"

Director J.B. Rogers and Chris Klein - Tone Of Commentary
Split. Rogers acts like he doesn't really give a damn, while Klein gushes, insisting that Say It Isn't So is "one of those movies you have to watch three or four times before you start to catch the really intricate jokes." - What Went Wrong
According to Klein, nothing. When a character refers to a lesbian as a "vagina-terian," Klein laughs out loud and says, "Again… really funny writing." Rogers, meanwhile, spends the commentary pointing out the Farrelly friends that he pretty much had to hire, and talking about the crew "in charge of cows and other animals to abuse." When he spots a nice zoom-in/dolly-back camera move—Hitchcock's Vertigo effect—Rogers admits, "That wasn't really planned." - Comments On The Cast
Rogers says that Richard Jenkins based his handicapped character "on his own father, who had a stroke." Klein says that Sally Field was an inspiration: "She made me start reading novels, like Lonesome Dove and Shogun. Even now, a year later, I'm still reading. It's become a very important part of my life." - Inevitable Dash Of Pretension
Klein says that his character Gilly Noble "is a man that believes in dreams" and that Graham's character "makes the sun shine every day… a dream come true for Gilly Noble." When a shot of an airplane buzzing a private beach comes accompanied by "The Ride Of The Valkyries," Klein says, "Great soundtrack choice here. Wagner from Apocalypse Now. A stroke of genius from J.B. Rogers." - Commentary In A Nutshell
Typical Klein: "This dinner scene coming up, I truly believe, is one of the funniest dinner scenes ever in motion pictures."
