Scarlett Johansson will be in the Captain America sequel, possibly alongside Alison Brie
In news that, among the gallant and mannerly world of comic-book fans on the Internet, will be considered with the sober detachment of a farmer receiving sorghum futures, Deadline has compiled a short list of actresses expected to appear in the upcoming sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier—among them Scarlett Johansson in her Black Widow guise, bridging a narrative gap between this film and The Avengers. As many Captain America readers have already speculated, it's possible she may also be there to get romantically involved with said Winter Soldier, though all that's known at this point is that she won't be getting into it with Captain America—both because this would cause apoplectic fits, and because there are already five other ladies currently lining up to be his love interest.
According to Deadline, they are: Game Of Thrones' Emilia Clarke; Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay; Teresa Palmer; Imogen Gay Poots, who is still named that; and as mentioned in the A.V. Club-pandering headline, Alison Brie, who may have an advantage seeing as Community's Anthony and Joe Russo are directing. We leave you now to debate each actress' appropriateness for the role and appearance alongside Scarlett Johansson in a genteel and conservative manner, as though discussing the platforms of your prospective local aldermen.
