Sci-fi tropes abound in the trailer for the Divergent sequel, Insurgent

While last year’s Divergent split its time between dystopian world building and YA angst, the trailer for its follow-up, Insurgent—or if you ask Lionsgate, The Divergent Series: Insurgent—is packed to the gills with sci-fi action tropes. From white prisons with huge glass windows, to ill-defined futuristic tech, to urban zip lining, this trailer crams every sci-fi cliché into a brisk two-and-a-half minutes.

Having narrowly escaped the clutches of evil leader Jeanine (Kate Winslet) at the end of the last film, Tris (Shailene Woodley, rocking a badass pixie cut), Four (Theo James), and Caleb (Ansel Elgort) are now fugitives. Their plans for rebellion lead them to the peace-loving faction Amity (led by Octavia Spencer), the truth-obsessed faction Candor (led by Daniel Dae Kim), and the mysterious Factionless (led by Naomi Watts).

Viewers can enjoy all that politicking—plus gunfights, explosions, and symbolic broken glass—when The Divergent Series: Insurgent hits theaters March 20, 2015.
