In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter while at Cannes, Martin Scorsese dropped a few choice details about his long-awaited documentary, Living In The Material World: George Harrison. Besides talking about his early experiences first hearing The Beatles, meeting Harrison during the making of The Last Waltz, and the spiritual kinship he's always felt with the late legend, Scorsese mentions that the film will also previously unreleased Harrison recordings, many of which come from cassettes that Harrison's widow Olivia has unearthed of music he recorded while still in The Beatles. According to THR, "Olivia and Scorsese acknowledge that their film will feature never-before-seen footage and personal recordings of Harrison's, as he saved everything and left a ton of material." No hints were given as to whether these recordings contain demos of Beatles songs or completely never-before-heard material; either way, they should prove to be a massive boon to music historians and fans. Scorsese' latest ETA for the film's release is sometime in 2011.
