Scott Pilgrim movie casts evil exes, others

Lots of casting news today for the film adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Mally’s Scott Pilgrim comic-book series. Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have been attached to the Edgar Wright-helmed project for a while now, but a bunch of supporting players have now been filled in, mostly the “evil exes” that slacker Scott Pilgrim (Cera) must defeat to in order to date the object of his affection, Ramona Flowers (Winstead).

Brandon “Hey remember me, I was Superman!” Routh will play Evil Boyfriend No. 3 Todd, who has vegan psychic powers, while Chris Evans of the Fantastic Four movies will play No. 2, skateboarder/movie star Lucas Lee. In an fun little bit of crossover casting, Ramona’s fourth ex, Roxy Richter the half-ninja, will be played by Mae Whitman, a.k.a. Ann (her?) from Arrested Development, which means a George Michael/Ann showdown. Unknown Satya Bhabha will play the first evil ex-boyfriend Matthew; presumably the rest will be cast once O’Mally reveals the characters in upcoming Scott Pilgrim volumes.

Brie Larson (United States Of Tara) has also been cast as Scott’s sane ex-girlfriend Envy Adams, while newcomer Ellen Wong will tackle the role of Scott’s insane ex-girlfriend, Knives Chau. Kieran Culkan was also announced last week in the role of Scott’s gay roommate Wallace. More casting announcements (including Stephen Stills and Young Neil) can be found here.

Filming on Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World begins in March.
