Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse trailer prepares us for disappointment
Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse was originally going to attempt mix genres under the title of Boy Scouts Vs. Zombies—but even with its new name, it’s still the same old dreck. The red band trailer kicks off with a premise lifted from Superbad, introduces some killer strippers a la From Dusk Till Dawn and then moves into Zombieland with its freshly minted warriors.
The film stars Tye Sheridan (Tree Of Life), Logan Miller (Growing Up Fisher), and newcomer Joey Morgan as Boy Scouts who double as lonely teenagers. They set off in search of some supposedly amazing party hosted by the cool kids, who are led by Jeff (Patrick Schwarzenegger). But they run into trouble and zombies while trying to make their wet dreams come true. The scouts eventually arm themselves properly to do battle against hordes of the undead, but not before setting their Scoutmaster (David Koechner) on fire.
Sheridan plays the alpha scout (if there is such a thing), which we guess bodes well for his turn as a young Cyclops in X-Men: Apocalypse. And if his career really takes off after the X-Men movie, he might look back on Scouts Guide as his Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. Directed by Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones), Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse hits theaters October 30.
