Scream, Spy Kids, Halloween, Hellraiser and Scanners sequels all in the works
Bob Weinstein's tireless efforts to remake every halfway successful horror movie of the past thirty years has picked up speed, according to mtv.com. Dimension, the Weinstein's lucrative genre film division, has announced plans to release sequels to Scream, Spy Kids, Halloween, Hellraiser and Scanners along with future entries in the Children Of The Corn, An American Werewolf In London and Short Circuit series.
All of this sends a strong message to screenwriters: if you've got a brilliant, dazzlingly original screenplay throw that shit in the trash and get to work on a Maximum Overdrive remake. Yet we remain, as always, cautiously optimistic.
