Screen Actors Guild liked The King's Speech, Boardwalk Empire, and Betty White

Entertainment’s various guilds gathered their tainted crystals and met under cloak of darkness to cast their various power leveling rituals this weekend, and the Screen Actors Guild, awarded its highest rank to The King’s Speech with a victory for Best Ensemble and thus, +12 Oscar Frontrunner Points. Coming on the back of Tom Hooper’s win at the Director’s Guild Awards, and the film’s triumph at the Producers Guild Awards, lo, the Guilds agree: The King’s Speech is now poised to take it all at the Oscars next month. The rest of the acting accolades went to some familiar names—Natalie Portman, Melissa Leo, Christian Bale—who also seem to be locks at this point, while the TV awards echoed the Golden Globes by giving Boardwalk Empire and Steve Buscemi the top drama prizes. However, the SAG Awards thought Modern Family’s ensemble deserved it more than Glee—who went home empty-handed, thereby finally giving Lea Michele something to cryface about—and it also took the opportunity to give Betty White an award for just showing up to the set of Hot In Cleveland every day.
