A new trailer has been released for The Lonely Island’s new feature film, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. Popstar stars Andy Samberg as Conner4Real, who has an existential pop crisis when his sophomore album crashes and burns. The first trailer introduced some of Conner’s extensive entourage, including his DJ (Jorma Taccone), his lyricist (Akiva Schaffer) who also has a passion for woodwork, his roadie (Bill Hader), and his publicist (Sarah Silverman) who hopes Conner eventually becomes ubiquitous like clinical depression.
In the new trailer, we meet Conner’s best friend Maximus, who is a turtle. Conner also sees the first reviews of his sophomore album CONNquest, which Rolling Stone gives a shit emoji (out of five stars). Even though his career is a shambles, Conner stages a romantic proposal to his girlfriend of six months, complete with a pack of real wolves and the real Seal. Parts of the trailer are scored by one of Conner’s singles about how the Mona Lisa is overrated. Maya Rudolph, Joan Cusack, Will Arnett, Adam Levine, Snoop Dogg, Will Forte, Carrie Underwood, Usher, Martin Sheen, Imogen Poots, Paul Scheer, and Pink are among the stars who comprise Conner’s entourage and contemporaries.
Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping comes to theaters on June 3.
