Sean Spicer straight-up walked out of a briefing today

White House press secretary Sean Spicer is known to take behavioral cues from his boss, but that usually just comes through in his brash disregard for the members of the press he’s briefing. Today, not long after Trump himself stormed out of an interview with CBS’ John Dickerson, Spicer quietly snuck out of the White House press room while the media was talking to Office Of Management And Budget Director Mick Mulvaney. As the members of the press saw what he was doing and shouted his name so they could try and ask questions, he just kept walking and ignored them. You can see it happen in this short clip:

Now, to be fair to Spicer, his internal monologue is usually nothing but people screaming his name in frustration, so it does stand to reason that he might not have realized that anyone was trying to get his attention, but The Washington Post has a different theory. It thinks that Spicer’s refusal to get on the podium has something to do with this idiotic nonsense Trump tweeted early this morning:

So, we don’t know why Spicer refused to take questions during the briefing, but his boss did suggest that he’d like the entire government to shut down because he doesn’t like it when things don’t automatically go his way. Whatever his reasoning was, now he doesn’t have to try and justify that dumb thing.
