Steven Soderbergh is going to make Sebastian Stan go “vroom.” Stan is best known these days as Captain America’s buddy/potential love interest (we can dream, can’t we?) Bucky Barnes, otherwise known as the Winter Soldier. However, true fans think of him as Carter Baizen on Gossip Girl. Regardless of what project you recognize Stan from, be aware that Steven Soderbergh has taken notice and cast him as a NASCAR driver in his upcoming heist movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The project—titled Logan Lucky—signals Soderbergh’s triumphant return to feature directing. (Not that we ever thought he would be gone for good.) Per THR, Stan is taking on the role of a “a three-time Sprint Cup Champion NASCAR driver who is coming back into the sport after time away.” He joins a stacked cast that also includes Magic Mike (Channing Tatum), Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), and James Bond (Daniel Craig). Also on board: Hilary Swank, Seth MacFarlane, and Katherine Heigl. Please note that, while this is not an Ocean’s Eleven spinoff, Soderbergh is producing Ocean’s Eight, the lady version of that franchise. Heists abound, it seems.
Meanwhile, Stan is also going to be in the Shirley Jackson adaptation, We Have Always Lived In The Castle, and, obviously, more Marvel stuff.
