Sebastian Stan to play the Jeff Gillooly to Margot Robbie’s Tonya Harding
It looks like Margot Robbie can start lacing up her skates to play Tonya Harding—she boarded the I, Tonya film back in March, but that was when the project was still in search of a director and a distributor. But the project’s since gained lots of traction: Craig Gillespie (The Finest Hours, Lars And The Real Girl) is attached to direct and Miramax has bought the rights. Not only that, but Steven Rogers’ script landed on this year’s Black List, along with several other biopics. And another important piece of the skating scandal’s puzzle has just fallen into place, as Variety reports that Sebastian Stan has signed on to play Jeff Gillooly. It was Harding’s estranged husband who admitted to having hired Shane Stant to injure Nancy Kerrigan to keep her out of the 1994 Olympics. Kerrigan’s role has yet to be cast, but I, Tonya is now in pre-production.
