As the migration of comics like David Cross and Eugene Mirman to Sub Pop and Neil Hamburger to Drag City have shown, you’re not really an established indie label unless you also have a couple of comedians on your roster. Hence, the Bloomington, Indiana-based Secretly Canadian is also branching out into comedy with the Aug. 2 release of Good One by Tig Notaro, perhaps best known for her guest-starring roles on shows like The Sarah Silverman Program (as “Officer Tig”) and Community (as the bartender with a sympathetic ear in “Mixology Certification”). Notaro’s dry, understated jokes about dinosaurs and Taylor Dayne should fit right in with the sort of stately and occasionally strange music of Secretly Canadian artists like Antony And The Johnsons and Jens Lekman.
