Malka Spigel’s many collaborations with the legendary post-punk band Wire stretch back decades, and they’ve only grown stronger since the former Minimal Compact member and visual artist married Wire singer-guitarist Colin Newman in the ’80s. Newman produced and plays on Spigel’s upcoming EP, Gliding, a lush, spacious piece of shoegaze-inflected pop—as heard on the track “Tall Grey Buildings,” whose Eric Scott-directed video is being given a North American debut here. Newman’s atmospheric guitar is unmistakable, but it’s Spigel’s spectral voice, melody, and bass that elevates her meditation on architecture to something beautiful.

Gliding will be released May 19 via Swim.
