See your favorite YouTubers in this year-end round-up of what we assume are famous YouTubers
There’s nothing worse than realizing you’ve fallen out of touch with society, like you used to be with it until they changed what it was and now what’s it seems weird and scary (to quote Abe Simpson). Luckily, that’ll never happen to us and it’ll never happen to you, because we’re all super cool here and we definitely have no trouble keeping up with what the “young people” are all about. Y’all heard about that floss dance? Obviously you have. You’ve probably been doing that floss dance since before the kids today dabbed their first dab.
Since we’re all hip, we obviously care a lot about “YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind,” hashtag YouTube Rewind, which we understand is a celebration of “the videos, people, music, and moments that defined 2018.” Yeah, no duh. Obviously the things in this video defined 2018, and we obviously know exactly what these things are. Only a dusty, old skeleton wouldn’t recognize Will Smith (he has that famous family!), Ninja (he refuses to play video games with girls!), and… uh… oh jeez… did we already say Will Smith?
Anyway, all of your favorites are here, referencing the funniest YouTube memes and hottest tunes that we totally love to stream on our phones while we’re supposed to be paying attention in class. (School is so lame, right?) YouTube also packed in some Fortnite references, that yodeling kid, “Baby Shark” (do doo do doo do doo), that car Elon Musk shot into space, and the basic concept of ASMR (a thing that everyone seems to believe is super funny even though it’s not that funny). Is there anything YouTube left out? If so, say something mean about it in the comments section—the comments section on YouTube, please.
Oh, also, that whole thing with Logan Paul showing an apparent suicide victim in one of his videos happened this year. It’s weird that YouTube left him out of this.
