Big Star’s influence is evident on the new record from September Girls—in the band’s name, at least. The Dublin all-girl quintet launched its debut LP, Cursing The Sea, earlier this year through Fortuna POP! and is now sort of floating around in the wake of its first U.S. shows at SXSW. The A.V. Club has the premiere of the band’s new video for “Sister” below, and while the band might be named after a Big Star song, “Sister” is definitely more reminiscent of a Joy Division cut. It’s dark and a bit morbid, all of which makes it a great soundtrack to kick off the weekend right.
