Sesame Street's Bert and Ernie will celebrate the DOMA ruling on New Yorker cover
It's been a week of celebration for gay Americans, their friends, family and supporters, as the Supreme Court struck down both the Defense Of Marriage Act and California's Proposition 8. Melissa Etheridge and Nurse Jackie creator Linda Wallem announced wedding plans in the immediate wake of the ruling. George Takei finally managed to get something reposted to every single page on Facebook. But the most touching response may come from a celebrity pair we've known the longest: Longtime companions Bert and Ernie posed for a simple, sweet cover for this weeks' New Yorker, devoid of any politics or fanfare—just a loving couple curled up on the couch together, taking in the good news. (Though, we thought they were just friends?)
