Seth Meyers’ school-set revenge comedy gets pilot order from NBC

Seth Meyers, Lorne Michaels, and Mike O’Brien are going back to school, at least in the sense that they’re working on a TV show about a school. According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has given a pilot order to a project created by Meyers and O’Brien (with Michaels as an executive producer) about a “hilariously cynical Ivy League professor” who loses his job and has to work as a high school teacher instead. Naturally, he “imposes his unorthodox teaching style” on his new students and forces them to help “plot out revenge on those who wronged him.” O’Brien, who writes for Man Seeking Woman and has been writing for Saturday Night Live since 2009, will also be scripting this pilot.

THR says that “workplace comedies are expected to be a hot property this pilot season,” so we’ll probably hear about even more shows about people with wacky jobs as the year goes on.
