Seth Rogen and Adam McKay sign on for untitled Ben Schwartz project
The people behind Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Superbad, Robot Chicken, Parks And Recreation, Funny Or Die, and many other things you, the reader of this pop culture publication, probably like are coming together to create the stoner comedy fan’s equivalent of Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Adam McKay, Seth Rogen, and Ben Schwartz, a.k.a. Jean-Ralphio, have joined forces for an untitled feature film based on an idea by Schwartz. No details on the plot or even the premise of the movie are available at this time, but Variety reports that Rogen has agreed to star and McKay is set to direct based on Schwartz’s pitch alone. Schwartz will co-star in the film, produced by Rogen’s producing partner Evan Goldberg and McKay and Will Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions.
As befits his station as the king of movies bros like to quote at each other, McKay released a characteristically irreverent statement on the project: “Evan and Seth have been doing amazing things and we’re so excited to work with them,” he says. “Ben, not so much. Most of my problems with him are personal ones, but I have to give it up … he did come up with a great idea.”
“Every two thousand years the planets of our galaxy align in a perfect line that funnels the cosmic energies of the universe to flow into one perfect comedic collaboration. The time is now. This is that project. Nothing will ever be the same,” Rogen adds, in no way hyping this thing up any more than the Internet presumably will.
