Sex Dust vs. Super Male Vitality: GOOP and Infowars sell pretty much the same stuff
Bad news for anyone whose daily supplement regiment currently includes both Goop-approved Sex Dust and Alex Jones’ personal stock of Super Male Vitality: It turns out that they’re pretty much the exact same thing, marketed to two very different sets of consumers.
That’s per Quartz, which recently posted a comparison piece showing that a great many of the herbal, organic, “revitalizing” compounds that Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand hocks at bored rich people with an interest in crystals also pop up on Jones’ InfoWars store, aimed at a more conspiracy-theory-prone demographic. In both cases, though, the products in question—Sun Potion, Caveman True Paleo Formula, “Why Am I So Effing Tired”?, Survival Shield X-2—all have the same roots in the herbal medicine community, just with different labeling and price tags.
The Quartz piece also notes the scientifically observed benefits of all of this stuff, which is usually pretty much nil. And now we’re having some fun imagining Jones and Paltrow’s customers each taking us to task for that blind, soulless adherence to science, before realizing that they’re both making pretty much the exact same arguments, and quickly retreating to their respective bunkers and meditation creches.
