Shane Black’s The Predator has been bumped back to summer 2018

According to Collider, director Shane Black’s The Predator is reactivating its cloaking device and ducking back into the jungle for a bit, as 20th Century Fox has decided to delay the movie a full six months from February 9, 2018 to August 3, 2018.

And although this news does mean that it’ll be a while longer before we get to see a noble Yautja hunter murdering Olivia Munn, Keegan-Michael Key, Alfie Allen, Sterling K. Brown, Edward James Olmos, Thomas Jane, and of course that little scamp Jacob Tremblay, this news might not actually be as bad as it sounds. As the Collider story points out, The Predator is now opening in a more competitive time of the year, which seems to indicate that the studio is very confident it in becoming a Guardians Of The Galaxy or Suicide Squad-esque hit—as both of those movies also opened in the first week of August as well. Hopefully it’ll be a bit better than Suicide Squad, but that bar is set pretty low.
