Sharknado 5 reveals punny and pertinent subtitle

The Sharknado movies have offered lots of goofy fun that’s about as far removed from reality as you can get—we mean, Ian Ziering playing some kind of beachcomber? Come on—but an announcement about the fifth entry in the franchise has some unexpected pertinence to the events of the day. See, around the same time that the president’s sense of personal accountability led him to take steps to ensure there’s no planet for future generations to look after, Syfy announced the subtitle for its latest toothy offering. Henceforth, the fifth Sharknado movie will be known as Sharknado 5: Global Swarming. Now, the filmmakers have indulged in many a pun during their run (Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, anyone?), but given that this is part of the key art, we’re inclined to think the writers are steering right into the mudslide/skid.

Sharknado 5: Global Swarming will heat things up August 6 on Syfy.
