Sharknado returns to make America bait again
Here’s what’s up in the world of television for Sunday, August 6. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (Syfy, 8 p.m.): Scoff if you will at the Sharknado franchise, but in a way they’re better off than we are. After all, they almost booked Donald Trump for Sharknado 3, but replaced him with Mark Cuban. The rest of us are not so lucky. Yet, Sharknado persists, and this time, it’s going global. Sharknado vets Ian Ziering and Tara Reid return to defend the world from this bizarre weather circumstance, traveling to Europe, Egypt, Vegas—basically everywhere. The word “sharkzilla” might be thrown around in the trailer, which can only be a good thing. Les Chappell is ready to take a break from pondering Lannister rivalries to concentrate on watching Steve Sanders attack sharks with chainsaws. What’s Mark Cuban up to these days?
Regular coverage
Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later (Netflix)
Twin Peaks (Showtime, 8 p.m.)
Game Of Thrones (HBO, 9 p.m.)
The Strain (FX, 10 p.m.)
Insecure (HBO, 10:30 p.m.)

Wild card
Difficult People (Hulu): The quintessential A.V. Club show, Difficult People, returns for its third season on Hulu this Tuesday, August 8, with Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner in fine form as not-nice people. From the trailer, it looks like other fun folks like Lucy Liu, Jane Krakowski, John Cho, and series regular Andrea Martin will also be around this season. So why not catch up on seasons one and two so you’ll be all set for some more snarky sarcasm by Tuesday?
