Sharp Objects creator Marti Noxon is heading to Netflix

According to Variety, Sharp Objects creator Marti Noxon has signed a multi-year deal to develop new programming exclusively for Netflix, meaning the streaming service has stolen yet another high-profile content-creator from the dark misery of—shudder—traditional TV. In a comment that was intended to be jokier than it comes across, Noxon asked “Who can resist the allure of Netflix?” and highlighted the streaming service’s ability to “continually produce ground-breaking and visually stunning content” (not to be confused with its ability to continually present ground-breaking and financially stunning development deals to accomplished creators).

We don’t know anything about what Noxon might do at Netflix, but she also created Girlfrends’ Guide To Divorce and UnREAL, plus she directed the Netflix original movie To The Bone. That means her next project could be a funny and insightful take on relationships or a harrowing drama about people going through horrible stuff. Maybe somewhere in between?
