Shawn Ashmore to put bad guys on ice on ABC’s Conviction
ABC’s legal drama Conviction just scored another Marvel alum as Deadline reports that former (onscreen) X-Man Shawn Ashmore has just joined Agent Carter’s Hayley Atwell on the show’s legal dream team. The series comes from Liz Friedman (Jessica Jones) and Liz Friedlander (Stalker), and will center on the Conviction Integrity Unit, a group of lawyers, investigators and forensic experts that does its due diligence in ensuring that prosecutors did theirs when garnering convictions.
Ashmore will play Sam, a “top Assistant District Attorney” who has the added bonus of being “handsome,” which could be why he’s a little sore about losing out on a promotion that would have had him heading up the team that Carter (Atwell) will lead. But Sam will set his bruised ego aside to help Carter (relax, Atwell’s character’s name will almost certainly be changed) peruse depositions, court transcripts, and any other documents pertinent to investigating possible miscarriages of justice. So, in a way, Ashmore and Atwell will still be saving the world, it’ll just be one shaky police lineup at a time.
